Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Edward Lewis Percy, 91, passed away on November 3 in Pinole, Calif.

Born in Blackwell, Oklahoma on December 26, 1925, Ed was the son of Paul Percy and Vera Layton Percy. Ed was the eldest of four children. His family moved to California when he was nine. He graduated from Richmond High School and served two years in the United States Navy during World War II. His ship joined allied occupation forces after Japan’s surrender in September 1945. After his Navy hitch, Ed worked as a lab technician at Standard Oil, and then served twenty-two years with the Richmond Police Department where he earned the rank of sergeant. He retired from the police force in 1970 and then went to work for Bartels Real Estate in Pinole as an agent for 18 years. Ed’s first wife, Betty Humphrey, died in 1981 and in October 1988, he married Elaine Steele. Ed loved new Cadillacs, reading detective thrillers, watching old westerns, especially those starring John Wayne, and attending Elks Club functions in El Sobrante. He and Elaine enjoyed more than twenty years together traveling the world, going to church, golfing and visiting with family and friends. Ed was predeceased by both Betty and Elaine, his son, Jim Percy, and brother, Ron Percy. He is survived by two sisters, Thelma Parkin and Paula Cianciarulo, his son Mike (Carol), stepsons Chuck (Charlene) and Steve (Mylene), and 8 grandchildren (Donovin, Juliet, Keith, Mandy, Summer, Tim, Travis and Tyler). A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, January 13 at the Elks Club in El Sobrante. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Elks Club’s charities.
