Obituary of Robert Lee Dunn

Robert “Bob” Dunn passed away on December 23, 2017 at the age of 93, in Walnut Creek, California. Born in 1923, in Illinois, Bob graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland in 1942. He served as a signalman in the US Navy during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific.
He married his first wife, Rita, in 1947 and together they raised four sons. Their 33 year marriage closed with Rita’s sudden passing in 1981. A few years later, Bob retired from his rewarding career as architect/remodeling manager with Safeway Stores, Inc.
Bob met Patricia Rutherford, who became his final great love. They married in 1983 and enjoyed 34 happy years together. Their youthful vitality allowed Bob and Patricia to live out their love for travel, art, theater and even some camping in the Sierra’s as octogenarians. Much of his quiet time was spent painting in watercolors.
Preceded also in death by his son James, Bob is survived by his devoted wife Patricia, his son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Patricia Dunn, daughter-in-law Sharon Joy, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Barbara Dunn and son and daughter-in-law Scott and Margaret Dunn. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
