Obituary of Michael Anthony Fanzone

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Michael “Mike” Fanzone- beloved husband, father, uncle, and friend- died on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in Santa Rosa, CA at 85 years old. Michael was born in San Francisco, CA on August 18, 1932, to Lena and Michael Fanzone. He served in the Navy from 1951-1955 on the USS Johnston. He also attended City College and graduated from The University of San Francisco.

He married the love of his life, Lois Fanzone, on May 24, 1958, and next month would’ve been their 60th anniversary. Michael and Lois moved from San Francisco in 1964 to Concord/Clayton and then retired to Calistoga in 2002. He is survived by his wife and three children, Michael, Eileen, and Sue.

Michael will be remembered for his big personality and tall tales, as well as his woodworking and gardening skills. His volunteer work at the Community Garden in Calistoga kept him very busy. He loved fishing, boating, and his most treasured memories were made at their houseboat on Lake Shasta where friends and family would join them every summer. He was a proud Sicilian, nurtured his Goldman Italian Tomatoes, but most of all, he loved his children and wife. He will forever be missed.

A mass will be held at 11 am, Friday, May 4, 2018 at St. Joseph’s in Vacaville, California. Immediately following will be a military burial at Sacramento Valley Veterans Cemetery. Please RSVP to artneileen@comcast.net to attend the Reception at Zio Fraedo’s in Vallejo.
