Luke McKeever passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by Dorothy (Deedie), his wife of 63 years, his children Mark, Christine (Robert), Michael, and Eileen (Rich), his grandaughters Katelynn, Kristen, and Kally, and his sister Claire.
Luke never passed up an opportunity to fly fish with his son Mike, couldn’t walk past a slot machine without putting a nickel in, and always enjoyed a good cup of coffee or martini. He worked diligently in his garden every year, producing some of the finest tomatoes in the area to the envy of his family and friends.
Luke enlisted in the Navy in 1947 and served on the Commissioning Crew of the USS Oriskany as a lithographer. He attended R.I.T. in Rochester, NY, where he met Deedie. He joined Eastman Kodak Company in the late 1950s and was transferred to the Bay Area in 1960, where he had a distinguished career of 33 years as a technical representative and sales manager.
Luke volunteered at the City of Walnut Creek Senior Club as a driver for their Mini Bus Program for over 25 years and was a founder of their Investment Discussion Group, serving as its president for a number of years. Luke was a member of the Freemasons, Grand Lodge of Ohio, Clermont Social Lodge No. 29, and the Grand Lodge of California, Orinda Lodge No. 122.
At his request, no services are planned. Donations in Luke’s name may be made to the City of Walnut Creek Senior Club or the Diablo Valley Fly Fishing Club.
