Obituary of Eugene Anthony Lourence

Gene as he was known died unexpectedly on Friday, February 12, 2016. He was born in Antioch, California, where he grew up and went to school. He graduated from Antioch High School in 1962. Gene met Billie June Doolin while in school and they married on July 27, 1963. They were married for 47 years until Billie's death in 2010. Gene worked for Crown Zellerbach/Gaylord Container as a painter until he retired in 1997. Gene's passion was pinstriping and design; He was a true Artist and was one of the bay-areas best pinstrippers. At one point in high school he had guys lined up around the block to have their cars pinstriped. He also loved to go fishing, most recently down at Riverview Lodge and enjoyed hanging out with his friends. In 2014 Gene purchased a 2015 Ford Mustang 5.0 which he loved to drive around town and hangout with his grandsons; they would talk shop and work on their cars together. In 2016 Gene finally decided to have a hip replacement surgery with hopes of a new hip, he would have the ability to get around without pain. On February 10, 2016, Gene had the operation, but two days after, he sudden died of a heart attack February 12th. Gene enjoyed life and was at times "hell on wheels" but was loved by all who knew him. He will be sincerely missed by friends and especially his family. He is survived by two daughters, Donna (Lourence) DeSair and her husband Chip DeSair, Tina (Lourence) Toye and her husband Nathan Toye, his grandsons Clayton DeSair, Jake DeSair, Corey DeSair and Josh DeSair. His brother John Lawrence and several nieces, nephews and cousins. We will be having a Celebration of Gene's Life on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Women's Club of Antioch at 509 G Street, Antioch, CA at 1:00 pm.
