Obituary of Arthur H. Wendt
Please share a memory of Arthur to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We lost Art on Sunday at the age of 90 following an extended period of declining health. He was born and raised in Oakland, CA, and joined the USN when he was 17. He returned to California at the end of WWll, attended Armstrong College in Berkeley, and spent his working years with Allstate Insurance Co. He has resided in Alamo for 54 years.
Art loved all things outdoors , trout fishing, hunting, abalone-diving, golfing, cross country skiing, bike riding, and best of all, camping and fishing in the Sierra with his sons and their friends.
Art is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margie, his son Doug (Debbie and children Safia, Linda and Mehdi), his sister Gail Frost of McMinnville, OR. as well as extended family across the country. Preceding him in death were his two beloved sons, Greg and Jeff.
We who knew him will miss that special laugh, and his fun-loving friendship and love of friends and family. Art "didn't know a stranger". A remembrance in the Sierra will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, he would have liked to remember Hospice of the East Bay or ARF of Walnut Creek.
