Obituary of Thea Marie Scioscia
Please share a memory of Thea to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thea Marie Scioscia fell asleep on November 10th after a ten-year battle with brain cancer. Thea was born in Northampton, PA where she grew up on the family farm. She was a farm girl at heart with academic aspirations. While attending East Stroudsburg State College she met her soulmate Stanley. They would have celebrated 40 years of happy union this month. For Thea, there was nothing more important than enriching the lives of people she encountered. As a wife, mother, teacher and volunteer no one could match the passion that she put into everyday life. As a resource teacher in the SRVUSD at Charlotte Wood Middle School and volunteer for important organizations like the Junior League of Oakland Easy Bay and with Stan, as co-president of the SRVLA USS swim team, she did all she could to make the world a better place and to encourage the people she cared about to be the best they could be. Thea lived her life with a 'let's do it' mentality, traveling the world, visiting every MLB stadium but one when she left this world. An adventurer at heart, she was able see the world and people in it the best way possible without judgment. Our Thea was a lover of reading, baseball, and pigs, which reminded her of her time on the family farm, her childhood home. She was a devout Orthodox Christian. In summers, found joy with family and friends on the isle of Lesvos in Greece. She delighted in long walks with her dogs, and enjoyed fine wine and good food with friends, and always gave a helping hand to anyone in need. Thea is survived by her husband Stan and adult sons, Samuel and John; they will sorely miss her. Stan, Sam, Johnny and so many others would not be the people they are today without the care, wisdom, and mentality that Thea relayed throughout life. The celebration of Thea's life event will be held at a future date as her funeral and final resting will be in PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the TMS Memorial Fund at CWMS, 600 El Capitan Dr., Danville, CA 94526.
