Obituary of Greig Charles Pirie
Please share a memory of Greig to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We celebrate precious memories of our charming Dad, Grandfather, Husband, Uncle, Cousin, Friend to All, Animal Lover, and Genuine Great Guy.
Greig departed this world at home in Walnut Creek after a battle with cancer surrounded by his wife, Tina, and daughters, Kim, Lisa, Gayle, and cat Mango.
Family members and friends were able to say goodbye with hearts full of love.
Greig is a native Californian, Fresno born and raised, with a distinct appreciation for nature, an affinity for trains, a contagious passion for music, photography, the 49ers, the Giants, a Scotch on the rocks, and an endless adoration of his family. After retiring from a sales career, Greig kept busy. He devoted his Golden Years as the President of the Amtrak Volunteer Host Association, spending Saturdays at the Emeryville train station helping everyone make their connections. Greig spent Thursday and Friday evenings on the dining room floor greeting, and seating guests of Foreign Cinema in San Francisco.
His local legacy lives in the hearts and minds of all who had the pleasure to meet him.
Instead of sorrow, express your love by listening to Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Tony Bennett. Ride a train, smell a rose, don a bowtie, and savor the day with a Happy Hour toast.
His grandkids, Kaitlyn, Sean, Magnus, Julian, Pearl and Johanna all know how much they were loved by their "Papa" and "Grandpa".
Donations in Greig's memory may be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation
