Obituary of Bill V. Masadas

Bill V. Masadas was born on August 17th, 1955 in Pittsburg, California to immigrant parents Benigno and Maxima Masadas. He graduated from Pittsburg High in 1973 and attended Diablo Valley Community College thereafter, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology. He started his career in mechanical design at PACO Pump in Oakland in 1976. He then moved on to work at the Lawrence Livermore National Lab in 1980, where his career spanned over 30 years. He worked in the Weapons Department, NIF, and Property Management. Bill married Colleen Cleary in September of 1987 in Ruth, Michigan. They made their home in Oakley, California where they raised their three children: Lindsay, Justin, and Connor. To Bill, his immediate and extended family was his world. Bill was a kind, hard-working, fun guy with a wicked sense of humor. As a young boy, he enjoyed being in the Sea Scouts. He loved the water. As a young adult, he enjoyed tennis, backpacking, fishing, skin diving, skiing and motorcycling. He liked football and his team, the 49ers. Bill always looked forward to family trips and travelling. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. Bill was preceded in death by: his parents, Benigno and Maxima Masadas; his sister, Virginia Gaerlan; and his brother, Benny Masadas. He leaves to mourn: his wife of 27 years, Colleen; his three children: Lindsay, Justin, and Connor; his sister Marilyn Siaron; several brothers- and sisters-in-law residing in Michigan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bill went home to be with the Lord on August 27th, 2015 after a lengthy battle with heart disease brought on by complications of diabetes.
