Obituary of Larry Alan Rios

Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry Alan Rios passed away on Sunday after a seven-year battle with cancer. He met his challenge with resolve, compassion, and even touches of humor. His boundless positivity and abundant and open love for all will be truly missed. Larry was born in Pittsburg, CA, graduated from Pacifica High School, and earned an associate degree from Los Medanos College. He worked primarily as a computer operator for 21 years, first at Chevron and later at EDS. He was an artist. He was a lover of music. But he was always a family man at heart, the best any family member could ask for. Always the shy type in youth, it was a small miracle when one winter evening in 1981 he asked a woman he had never met before to dance. She said yes, once that night and once more on Oct. 12, 1985. From that first encounter he went on to build a wonderful life, settling eventually in Benicia, CA, with his wife and two sons who could not imagine a love stronger than the one each held for him. Larry is preceded in death by his mother Barbara and brother George. He is survived by his wife Ena, sons Daniel and David, brothers Ted and Nick, and father George. Please come and celebrate Larry's life at a memorial on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015 from 11:00am to 2:30pm at Piedmont Community Hall, 711 Highland Ave. Oakland, CA. Memorial donations may be made to Cancer Support Community San Francisco Bay Area.
