Obituary of Mary Anna Wyckoff

Mary Anna ( Marianne ) was born May 15, 1922 to Leo B. and Mary R. Smith in Middletown, OH. She passed away surrounded by her family on July 1, 2015 of natural causes. She was a resident of Walnut Creek 41 years. Upon graduation from high school, she went on to Good Samaritan School of Nursing, graduat- ed in October 1943 and earned her RN shortly thereafter. On June 24, 1944 she was commis- sioned as an Ensign, Nurse Corps, U.S. Naval Reserve and ordered to Great Lakes Naval Hos- pital, Great Lakes Naval Station,IL. Subsequently she was ordered to the Corpus Christi Naval Hospital, U.S. Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, TX. There she met and subsequently married Lt.(j.g.) Donald Wyckoff, USN. Marianne is survived by her loving husband, her daughter Susan (Jim) Mehrwein, two grand- children, Diana (Nic) Dyck, Laurie Mehrwein and two great grandsons as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned at a later date at which time she will be inurned in the Columbari- um at the U.S Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD.
