Obituary of Dorothy Mckie Runyon
Dorothy (Dot) McKie Runyon was born in Augusta, Georgia on April 23, 1928. She passed away early Tuesday, June 5 in her sleep after battling lung cancer. She worked with Young Life (a non-sectarian Christian youth organization focused on teenagers) in Memphis, Dallas, Augusta, Danville and Concord. Prior to that, she worked for the Atomic Energy Commission.
Her family and friends will miss her one-of-a-kind sense of humor and bold character.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Edee McKie (North Augusta, SC); sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Jerry Elder (Huntington Beach); brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Esther McKie (North Augusta, SC); her husband of 45 years, Robert Runyon (Walnut Creek); and son and his partner, Chad Runyon and Jody Black (Danville).
Celebration of the Mass of Resurrection will be at 11 am Monday, June 11, 2007 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1924 Trinity Ave., Walnut Creek.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm at Oakmont Memorial Park.
