Please share a memory of Emily to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Emily E Johnson “Beth”

Former Resident of Moraga, CA

1929 to 2018

Beth was born in Lebanon, MO and died in Walnut Creek, CA.

Beth was the wife of Edward J. Johnson “Eddie” and the daughter of Twyman and Ruth Edwards, all of whom preceded her in death.

After her childhood in Lebanon, Beth taught in a one room schoolhouse and attended Southwest Missouri State before moving to Los Angeles in 1949.  In Los Angeles she worked as a telephone operator for AT&T where she met Eddie.  In 1969 they moved to Moraga with their two sons, where she lived until her move to Walnut Creek in 2014.  Beth and Eddie shared a love of the mountains and in 1979 they built a cabin in Tahoe Donner, which they enjoyed for many years.

Beth was a founding member of Holy Cross Lutheran church in Moraga and later a devoted member of Holy Shepherd Lutheran church in Orinda.  She was a gifted artist with a passion for painting and other arts and crafts, and she was always happy to create something for a friend or fund-raiser.

Beth is survived by her two sons Kurt (his wife Jane, and their sons Brad and Jeff) and Mark (his wife Debbie, their children Tim, Becca, and Nate) and her brother, John.  She is lovingly remembered by many friends from her church and community, her family, and her longtime friends from the Edelweiss Ski Club.

Services will be held at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church in Orinda on Saturday, March 3 at 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the East Bay.
