Neal Y. Goya
Sept. 20, 1918- May 27, 2014
Neal Yoshihiro Goya was born in Piihonua, Hawaii, and graduated from McKinley High School. Neal was happiest being near the ocean, fishing. He loved taking new friends fishing, cooking, entertaining, and photography.
He shared a full, joyful life with his wife Yeiko (Jackie) for 68 years in Chicago, Michigan, Hawaii, and California. After retiring from his Hawaii real estate career, he helped raise his four grandchildren, Marisa, Ako, Thomas, and Russell, in California. Neal received an Honorary B.A. from University of Redlands in 2002, 60 years after WWII California Japanese relocation prevented his college graduation. He believed in learning to "roll with life's punches."
Neal is survived by his wife Yeiko, daughter Patricia Goya of Claremont, CA, and son Bruce Goya of Concord, CA and their families. A celebration of life service will be held June 7, Sat. at 3 PM at Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, 1543 Sunnyvale Avenue, Walnut Creek, CA.
