Devon Courtney (Flaskerud) Knight passed away on November 30, 2018 at her home in Martinez, California surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 26, 1:00 pm at Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church, 49 Knox Dr. Lafayette.
Devon was born in Walnut Creek to Donald Robert Flaskerud and Norma J. Hawkins Flaskerud on February 5, 1982. A 2000 graduate of College Park High School, she completed her bachelor degree in Anthropology at UC Santa Barbara in 2005. She pursued her master’s in teaching at Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe.
Devon married John Kendall Knight on March 24, 2012 in Sydney, Australia and May 27, 2012 in St. Helena, California. She was full of adventure and curiosity for the world and loved traveling; together they climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania in 2011. She was athletic throughout her life excelling in open water swimming and running marathons and triathlons.
Devon taught special education for 3 years and was a dedicated swim coach for 15. Active in the community, she joined Buena Vista Auxiliary in 2014 and in 2018 joined the Pleasant Hill Lions Club inducted by her father, Don. She also ran successful online clothing, skin care, and jewelry businesses.
Devon is survived by daughter Amelia Rose Knight, husband John Kendall Knight, mother Norma J. Hawkins Flaskerud, siblings: Shannon Flaskerud Adcock (Ryan Adcock), Kari Lucio (Carlos Lucio), and Erik Flaskerud (Courtney Flaskerud), her niece, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her father, Don Flaskerud in May, 2018.
Devon had a beautiful positive free spirit and loved life. She was a loving wife who gave herself wholeheartedly, creating more of an adventure than John ever dreamed possible. She was a devoted adoring nurturing mother to Amelia. Devon’s uplifting positive energy shines through her.
