Please share a memory of Doanld to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donald Alexander Corlett, a devoted husband and father, made his transition from this physical world on May 19, 2014. He touched many lives with his generous good will and his contagious sense of humor.
Don was born in Kobe, Japan, and graduated from Grant High School in Portland, OR. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity at Oregon State University. After earning his B.A. in Bacteriology and his M.S. in Microbiology, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Food Science and enjoyed a successful career as a food scientist. A lifelong researcher and adventurer, after Don's 24-year tenure at Del Monte Foods, he started Corlett Food Consulting Services, travelling overseas many times to deliver food safety courses to professionals. As a pioneer in food safety, Don published his book, HACCP User's Manual in 1998. Don and his beloved wife Carol loved visiting with their friends far and wide and were 30-year members of Unity Church.
Don is survived by daughter Susan Corlett of Alameda, son Kenneth Corlett of San Diego, daughter Margie Corlett Eastman of Santa Rosa, nephew Stephen Corlett, and grandsons Kyle and Gabriel Corlett and Tony and Joe Eastman. His warm, loving spirit will be missed by us all.
Friends are invited to a memorial celebration of his life at 2:00 pm, February 21, at Unity Church, 1871 Geary Rd., Walnut Creek. The family asks that any donations be made to Hospice of the East Bay.
