Obituary of Godofredo "Fred" Gacutan

Godofredo (Fred) Dequillo Gacutan, loving husband of Debra and loving father of Emily, Fred, Anthony, Kristina and Eric, passed away at the age of 75.

Fred was born on November 13, 1943 in the Philippines to Jacinto and Carmen (Dequillo) Gacutan. He moved to the United States as a teenager and spent over 35 years working for Merrill Lynch. On May 27, 1979, he married Debra Kay Utz.  

Fred adored his family. He loved to spend time eating good food, laughing with his brothers and sisters and watching his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews enjoy each other’s company. He could often be found in his backyard, sitting on the swing, while he watched his grandchildren play. He also loved to travel with his wife, cruising to exciting destinations, such as Greece and Italy, but their home away from home was Hawaii, which they frequented every year. He was known for his calm and easy-going nature, his welcoming and warm spirit and his love of life. He always put family first, a quality he instilled in each of his children.

Fred is preceded in death by his father, Jacinto, his mother, Carmen, and his sister, Carolina Gacutan Banaag. He is survived by his wife, Debra, his five children, Emily, Fred, Anthony, Kristina and Eric, his grandchildren Rachelle, Cassandra, Mia, Ariana, Alexandra, Andrew, Sarah, Shyann, Angelito, Alejandro, Anakin, Oliver, Jacob, Amelia, Lucas, Elizabeth, Cameron and Logan, his sisters Pacita Magtibay, Angeles Price and Ursula Padilla and his brothers Alberto, Napoleon, Fausto and Ponciano and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Christ the King Church in Pleasant Hill at 10 o’clock a.m.
