Dear Shirl, I’m sorry I didn’t get to say a proper goodbye. We had so many good times in California and again in Tennessee. Thank you for making us the best chicken fried steak, giving me the Shirley 7 up jello recipe we still make every Christmas, for potty training my first child, for being more of a mom to be than an aunt and mostly for leaving me your wicked sense of humor. I am praying you are at peace and with each of your three husbands who loved you very much. Don’t worry, we will take care of Greg. I love you always.

I know this is not much but if someone has thoughts or remembers something please add to it....Shirley A. Brakstad-Wright you are missed so dearly. I owe so much to to.... especially my love of cooking..... you thought me young and often..... I first meet Shirley in about 1965. Kinda funny now that I look back but she went to Richmond High with my step-dad and mom. Lol that was weird. She had Greg in 1966. We lived in Richmond Ca. for a few years. I remember she would sit in the big picture window in the front yard and watch the kids play, she loved to watch us. I remember her learning how to drive as I don’t think she ever got her license before. She would take us over to Aunt Beverly’s house all the time. It was her idea to get our first kitty Snowball, she would sit and play with her till they were both tired out. When we moved to Dublin in 1972 both Greg and I started new schools Greg in 1st grade and me in the 7th. Soon after Shirley took a job and became a U.S. Border Patrol Officer. Whenever they had a female arrestee, she would be called in. She enjoyed the work and was able to spend more time with dad. She stopped when dad retired to spend time with dad as he retired. They both got involved in Greg’s school band. Then a few years later in his rock band. Dad passed in 1984 and Shirley had a job working at a store selling jewelry. She meet Craig Wright a couple years later and said to me that she really liked him because he was such a nice guy. Craig soon moved in and they enjoyed their time, they moved to Florida and that’s when we kinda lost track for a while. When Greg had his stroke she was out visiting and she stayed for a while then she got the news that Craig had passed away a few days before she was to go home. She decided to move back out here and so she sold the home in Florida and moved out here to help Greg. She cared for Greg till about 2 months before her passing. She went very quickly and I pray in not much pain. She had a good life, she had fun and most of all she was dearly loved by all She was the last of the Brakstad kids......
