Obituary of Ronald J Riesselman

Ronald Joseph Riesselman, age 55, died April, 24, 2014 at home in Pleasant Hill surrounded by his loving family. He fought a fierce battle against lung cancer for the last 15 months. Ron was born November 20, 1958 in Carroll, IA. He was the son of Herbert Riesselman and Dolores (Ocken) Riesselman. He attended schools in Halbur and Carroll, IA and he moved upon graduation to Denver, CO and worked in the commercial construction industry. He became a Journeyman Carpenter and was an expert wood craftsman. For the last 28 years, has lived in the Bay Area of San Francisco, CA. He was employed in the commercial construction field in San Francisco, CA. He has been a Building Inspector for the city on Concord, CA for 13 years. Ron was an accomplished bike rider. Ron and his wife, Scarlett, traveled to many beautiful parts of the country and Canada with their bikes. Together, they rode over 20,000 miles together. He passed down his love of mountain biking to his son, John, and assisted in coaching John's mountain bike team. One of Ron's proudest moments was seeing John on the podium at the Norcal High School Mountain Bike Championship in 2009. Survivors include his wife Scarlett, son John Riesselman and stepsons Ryan & Brendan Murphy, his mother Dolores Riesselman of Carroll, IA and his mother-in-law Marcy Beaty and her husband Jerry of San Diego, CA. Sisters Linda Gilliland and husband Richard of Leavenworth, KS and Janice Moore and husband Charles of Manning, IA a brother Glen Riesselman and wife Mary Ann of Templeton, IA and many friends & relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Riesselman, in 2010. A celebration of life will be held at the family home on May 3, 2014 from 1-5 pm. His ashes will be distributed with loving care in several of his favorite places. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Lung Cancer Alliance.
