Robert Wallace Tascoe, Jr. of Pleasant Hill, CA (formerly of Montclair, NJ) passed away peacefully on April 12, 2014, at the age of 75. He had a kind and gentle spirit, a positive attitude and lived his life with tremendous strength and courage.
He was born on August 24, 1938 at Community Hospital in Montclair, NJ. Growing up he was affectionately known as Sonny. He graduated from Montclair High School in 1956. Immediately following High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served until being honorably discharged in 1959. He then began a 30 year career at the United States Postal Service where he worked as a resident mechanic.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and good friends. He made close friends wherever he went and shared his love for music with everyone around him. His home was filled with the smooth sounds of the Oldies, Gospel, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz and most of all, Doo Wop.
Bobby was a beloved father of Ria Nickens (Jonathan Nickens), Misty Tascoe and Tolan Tascoe; adoring grandfather of Ryan, Natalie and Chase Nickens; devoted son of Dorothy Tascoe and the late Robert W. Tascoe, Sr.; cherished brother of Barbara Elaine Sellers of Florida, Donna Wood of New Jersey, and the late Dorothy Weaver and Helen Tascoe; caring nephew of Marjory Chavies and Annie Bee Smith of New Jersey. He will also be missed by his many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.
