Obituary of Evan Lincoln Neiman

Please share a memory of Evan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Evan Lincoln Neiman was born on January 30, 1995 in Walnut Creek, California and died on November 9, 2020 after an Epileptic seizure. He graduated from Berean Christian High School in Walnut Creek and went on to attend California Baptist University and Diablo Valley College. Music was introduced to him at an early age and was embraced by Evan. As a songwriter, guitarist and singer, music became his sanctuary and creativity canvas. His guitar was one of his best friends and was carried everywhere he could. And, when it wasn't with him, people would hear Evan sing a cappella anywhere HE felt it was appropriate! Although, music was his passion Evan grew up playing soccer with Pleasant Hill AYSO, swimming with Walnut Creek Swim Club, obtaining a brown belt in Taekwondo, singing with the Contra Costa Children's Chorus (including Carnegie Hall), and performing with Diablo Light Opera Company, Willows Theatre, and Berkeley Rep Theatre. While Epilepsy often interrupted his college education he never stopped thirsting for knowledge and had returned full time in the last year. He loved to cook for others and even did it professionally at Whole Foods. Evan grew up in and around the family mortuary business and worked part time helping others there while attending school. He cherished his time fishing with his grandpa, growing medicinal plants, and forever being a kid at Disneyland. Evan is survived by his mother, Amy Nawata Neiman; father and step-mother, Eric and Allison Neiman; sisters, Amanda, Aria, Kennedy, and Delilah Neiman; brother, Roscoe Neiman; grandparents, Albert and Barbara Nawata, Ed and Cindy Neiman, and Colleen and Bruce Wallin; uncles and aunts, Scot Neiman, Kristin Stonebarger and Sean Hofer, Lisa Starkebaum, Russ and Kate Starkebaum, Anne and Chris Thorsen, Nancy and Wayne Maloney, and Debbie and Ryder Brose; and cousins who he grew up with like siblings, Trevor, Taylor, Emma, Aiden, Megan, Grace, Kylee, Zoe, Samantha, Madilyne, Luke and Bryce; and his trusted companion, Bugsy the cat. He will also be missed by many other extended family, housemates, classmates, work associates and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Laurel Ridge Community Church, 2459 Laurel Road in Oakley, California. Masks and social distancing will be required for the limited amount in physical attendance. The service will be live streamed and Evan was adamant about people staying safe during COVID-19. If you are safer watching at home, please do so. Interment will be private. The link to the live stream can now be found from the drop down above or menu item on left of page. Evan would prefer money spent on flowers go to something that would benefit someone else. In his honor we are starting the Evan Neiman Music Legacy Fund. With the help of his sisters and people who influenced his music journey and education, the fund will be used to help pay for music education and lessons for challenged youth. Our prayer is that it helps some youth challenged by diseases, both physical and mental, find the power of music to alter the direction of their lives. The link to donate can be found on the left side of this page, at that drop down above on mobile devices or at the link https://gf.me/u/y8rppt .
