Tribute to Daniel Edward Wallace
Daniel Edward Wallace (known as “Dan” by family and friends), age 67, passed away
peacefully and without pain with sheltie Brooke sleeping on one side and me holding his
hand on the other, from complications to Alzheimer’s on 28th December 2021 at 2:20
pm, in Clayton, CA
Born in Smyrna, TN to Robert and Dorothy on 23rd June 1954. He was the fourth child
of two brothers (Jimmy and Greg) and two sisters (Dottie and Patricia)
Dan was an “Air Force” brat. His father, Robert, was a commissioned officer. Which led
to Dan having a passion for travel, by land, air, or sea. Always looking for spontaneous
adventure anywhere he was able. Dan had many passion’s, photography, sailing,
certified diver, and cycling.
On a cycling trip he led for the Sierra Singles through Mendocino CA in 1988, Dan met
the love of his life, Wendy. With his wife, Dan continued with life’s passion and
adventures over the course of 32 years.
Throughout the course of Dan’s life (even as a young boy), he always kept a full
schedule with his passion’s. Rather putting focus on academics, Dan set the course to
enjoy life as a young man traveling and working with his hands as a skilled craftsman
related to boat commissioning, general maintenance and repair to commercial buildings,
and the Wallace residence in Clayton.
Being Dan’s life partner, I was so fortunate to spend over half of my life with this gentle
happy man who loved to make people laugh. He loved life, he loved to travel, to sail
including a boat delivery from Hawaii to San Francisco, to bicycle, including a trip from
Vancouver BC to San Francisco and to scuba Dive, including a bare boat sailboat
adventure with diving through the British Virgin Islands. I was fortunate to share my life with
Dan. He adored the dogs, spoiled them rotten and never met a dog who did not adore him.
Dan had a sense of humor and charisma to easily gain a smile with anyone that crossed
his path.
Dan is survived by his wife and life partner, Wendy. He is also survived by his brother
Jimmy and sisters Dottie and Patricia.
At Dan & Wendy’s request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers; please send
donations hospice of the East Bay (www.hospiceeastbay.org/development/donations)
and The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org/nca/donate)
Memorial Service: For the best interest of public safety, Wendy asks for a “moment of
silence” to show her reflection and respect for Dan and beloved friend. Please set aside
this moment on 28th January 2022 at 2:20pm (PST)
