Virginia Adeline (Larsen) Pfeifle of Lafayette, California, formerly of San Jose and Woodside passed away peacefully on March 28, 2014 at the age of 90 with her daughters by her side.
Virginia was born in Hawthorne, New York to Carl Larsen and Adeline Keller Larsen. After Adeline's death at an early age Virginia was cared for by her dear aunt Anna Sanner from Norway.
Virginia was an excellent student. After graduation from high school, Virginia worked for the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. in support of the World War II effort. There she met her husband to be, William S. Pfeifle, who was stationed at the Quantico Marine Corps Base. He claimed it was love at first sight. They corresponded for two years while Bill was deployed in the South Pacific. Upon his return in 1945, they married and moved to San Jose where the Pfeifle family resided. Later they moved to Woodside. During their 57 years of marriage they enjoyed many friends, travels, and adventures along the way.
Virginia was a beloved mother and grandmother, homemaker, golfer, bridge player, avid gardener, good cook, knitter and quilter. She earned an associates degree in interior design and took many other classes to broaden her knowledge. As children, her daughters much appreciated her animated storytelling, sense of humor, polka lessons, nourishing meals, patience and assistance with the family horses.
Virginia is survived by her daughters Sharon Jacks of Sacramento, Marsha Ramp of Lafayette and Virginia O. Pfeifle of Austin, TX; her grandchildren Dana Jacks David Jacks, Erik Ramp and Katherine Ramp; her niece Judy Jones and nephew Jim Tilly and her godchild Lynn Padilla.
She was preceded in death by her husband William S. Pfeifle, her sister Evelyn Tilly of Denver Co., brother Carl Larsen of Cape Cod, Mass. and sister-in-law Olga Pfeifle of San Jose.
