Obituary of Robert William Corby

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bob passed away suddenly at his home on St. Patrick's Day, after having a wonderful day with his good friends at the Colombo Club in Oakland. Bob was born and raised in Oakland CA, and graduated from Oakland Technical High in 1960 along with his high school sweet heart and soon to be wife Sandy Rubino. Bob served two years in the U.S. Army. Bob & Sandy were married in 1964, and they were excited about their 50th year anniversary coming up in May. Bob retired from Airborne Express in 1999; he was delighted that he was able to collect so many pension and social security checks. In his words, "I've screwed the system." Bob was a proud member of the Teamsters Union Local 70 for forty years. In addition, he was a loyal member of the Colombo Club in Oakland, an Oakland Raiders, and A's fan. Bob loved his annual fishing trips to Shelter Cove Oregon with his buddies, as well as handicapping thoroughbred horses. He was a softball coach for his daughter's softball team with Concord American Little League. Bob was one of a kind, he had such quick wit, and his stories will be missed by all who knew him. Bob is survived by his beloved wife Sandy, children Chris & Robin Corby, grandchildren, Andrew, Zachary & Chelsea Corby.
