Baha Zarah of Lafayette, CA passed peacefully at his home on August 15, 2022.
Born in 1943 in Baghdad, Iraq; Baha was a dedicated student which allowed him to attend college in England and subsequently graduate school at the University of Notre Dame where he obtained a PHD in Chemical Engineering. He there began his life long love for Notre Dame football, and later saw his 2 children attend college there in his legacy.
Baha had a successful career in engineering, working initially in private industry followed by over 25 years of civilian service with the US Navy and Air Force, from which he retired in 2013.
He is survived by his loving wife Wafa of 42 years; children Jake and Rena and their spouses, Kelly and Chris. His grandchildren were his main source of joy who knew him as “Jiddou”; Jake Jr., Shane, Cassidy, Bria and Carmella.
Mass will be held at a later date at Christ the King Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baha’s favorite charity in his name- St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
