Hilda Stein passed away peacefully on March 4, 2014 at the age of 97. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Born in the Czech Republic on December 21, 1916, she was a Holocaust survivor of Terezin Concentration Camp during WWII. After the war Hilda met her husband Ernest Stein and immigrated to California. They were married for 52 years until his passing in 1997.
Hilda worked as a bookkeeper at East Bay Sheet Metal of Oakland for many years. Her main love was her family. She enjoyed golf, traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, and winning at bridge.
She is survived by her children Joan (Richard) Means and David (CJ) Stein, and grandchildren Emily Avila, Paul (Mary Willis) Means, Joshua Stein, Steven Stein and Micah McKechnie.
On behalf of Hilda, her family wishes to thank the staffs of Atria Valley View Assisted Living, JAH Tender Hearts and East Bay Hospice for their loving care and support.
