Robert Norman (Bob) Bailey, aged 81, died peacefully at his home in Walnut Creek, California on September 13, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church, 902 Danville Blvd., Alamo, California on September 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Kim Risedorph will be officiating. Since Robert loved grilling and martinis, a bbq and martini toast will be held afterwards at his home at 675 Keith Court, Walnut Creek. RSVP for the bbq to Terry at 510-813-7237. Dress code for the bbq will be team apparel from Bob’s favorite teams – Oakland As, Golden State Warriors, Las Vegas Raiders, or San Jose State. Robert was born in Alameda, California to Norman and Anna Bailey on October 4, 1940. He grew up in Orinda, California. Robert attended Acalanes High School in Lafayette, California graduating in 1958. He went on to Diablo Valley College where he earned an Associate in Arts Degree in 1961, and then to San Jose State College (University) where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education in 1964. While at San Jose State, Robert was a member of Sigma Chi and on the golf team. Robert was a middle school teacher in the San Bruno Park School District for 35 years. He also coached various sports, including swimming at the Orinda Park pool. Robert is survived by his wife, Terry Bailey, son Todd Bailey (Jamie) of Walnut Creek, daughter Dawne Bailey of Sacramento, sister Joyce (Bruce) Roberts of Des Moines, Washington, grandchildren Katelin Talbert of Lisbon, Portugal, Kameron Talbert and Kylan Talbert of Sacramento, nephews Craig Roberts of Portland, Oregon, and Scott Roberts of Seattle, Washington. Robert is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Anna Bailey, and a baby brother, Keith. Since Robert was an avid nature lover, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to your favorite local, state, or national park. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of the East Bay and those three angels for filling Robert’s last days with loving care.
