Obituary of Travis Seth August

Travis Seth August passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the morning of October 4th, 2022. He was born in Parkersburg, WV on Sept 20, 1977. He graduated from Ravenswood High School WV in 1995 and held a BA in Graphic Design from Shepherd College WV , a Paralegal Degree from Northeastern University Boston Mass and a Masters Degree in Community Informatics from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. Throughout his life Travis lived across the country including Boston, Shepherdstown, Philadelphia, San Francisco and finally Oakland. He worked supporting legal software for the last years of his life, previously having had a career in Graphic Design. His impact was felt outside of work through volunteer work with San Francisco Habitat for Humanity, donations to the Alameda County Food Bank and time spent organizing and on the Board of the National Lawyers Guild of San Francisco. A deep love of reading - novels, non fiction & comics - as well as tireless enthusiasm for music and later on gardening held his attention when not engaged in other pursuits. He preferred to spend his vacations near water on either coast. Especially with his dog, Rusty. He passed in peace at the Bruns House, a beautiful facility operated by Hospice of the East Bay,located in Alamo CA. He was surrounded by his family who miss him very much. He is gone too soon. Far too soon. Travis was preceded in death by his younger brother Forrest Wesley August, cousin Christian Seth Conopask, his uncle David Conopask as well as both sets of grandparents. He leaves behind his parents, Roy and Blue (Vergene) August, brother Justin August, sister-in-law Luca Kelava and niece Mila August as well as many extended family and friends who loved him deeply. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later time.
