Obituary of Marion "Matt" Skrivanich

Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With a heavy heart, we announce Marion “Matt” Skrivanich, our wonderful father, passed away July 13. He was 90. Marion conquered life altering obstacles: at three months his mother died; he was raised by relatives until he was five. In midlife he was diagnosed with heart failure and leukemia. Yet he refused to quit. He lived his latter 40 years as if he had no health issues, he ran a few marathons in his 60’s and outlasted two pacemakers, his third installed just this year. A life long Cal Bear fan, Matt was a pharmacist since 1957. He taught heart smart classes at Kaiser educating people with heart conditions to thrive in the face of uncertainty. He married Angela Griffith in 1958. He built his and his family's lives from scratch calling it “putting your nose to the grindstone.” Matt is survived by, MaryAnn, Mark, John, Paul and wife Julie, Andrew and wife Sara and grandchildren, Kaylee, Ian, Catherine, William, Sophia, Devon and Julian. One can only hope to have as meaningful and uplifting an impact on their fellow man as Matt. One can only strive to touch as many souls as he did. He was loving, funny, understanding, supporting, our hero and so much more. We miss him dearly. A joint service for Marion and Angela, who predeceased him during Covid, will be held: Saturday November 5, 11AM St Paul’s Episcopal Church 1924 Trinity Ave Walnut Creek CA
