Day Dreaming
A picture hung on the class room wall,
Of sails white and masts so tall.
As I gazed at that picture straight ahead
The world around seemed still and dead.
The teacher's voice I could hear no more
Above the wave's deafening roar.
The swells crashed against our stern,
To sail this boat I soon must learn.
But no!--my dreams were rudely broken
By teacher's words most sternly spoken.
