Robert D. Schaible passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family Wednesday morning.
He was born on March 8, 1927 in St. Paul, MN. At 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve with his dad and brother. Following his service in the Navy, he earned a business degree from the University of MN and graduated cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law. As a lawyer, he was a well-respected executive specializing in claims operations and liability in the insurance industry. In retirement, he worked as a consultant and expert witness.
Bob and his wife, Gladys, were married for 54 years. They began their married life in Wisconsin and had 3 children. Later they moved to Walnut Creek, CA where they have lived for the past 35 years.
Bob will be remembered as a good and kind man, a gentleman with quiet dignity, strength, and a wonderful sense of humor. He was devoted to his family and faith. He enjoyed dancing, boating, golfing and golf marshaling, playing cards, volunteering at Kaiser and Loaves & Fishes, and being with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife - Gladys; his daughter and her family - Julie (Schaible) and Duane Lamoureux and children, Alexandra, Caroline and Vanessa; and his daughter and her family - Elizabeth (Schaible) and David Schrag and children, Nathaniel, Amelia and Lyla. His son, Mark Schaible, passed away in 1999.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church in Lafayette, CA. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to your favorite charity.
