Obituary of Douglas Benson

In Remembrance Remember him born to two parents who loved him; Remember him welcoming a sister he held dear. Remember him growing up in a different time, when He-Man and Luke Skywalker ruled; Remember him growing and finding his way, his family by his side. Remember his loathing of navy bean soup, and how Velveeta cheese made his stomach churn; Remember the things that he loved the most, like Straw Hat Pizza, Bud Light and Mexican food. Remember him blessed with a baby boy, who recently celebrated his sixteenth year. Remember their PlayStation battles, and SpongeBob Squarepants marathons. Remember his love for Roger Troutman, and his talents for the talk box that ensued. Remember the music of Michael McDonald, Peter Cetera and the Bee Gees, which filled his spirit with great joy. Remember his laughter at Sanford and Son, and his love for the horror movies he often watched. Remember his belief that Bigfoot exists; a true Sasquatch enthusiast at heart he was. Remember the pirates in his life; Black Beard and his buccaneers. Remember the Caribbean ride he loved, with dinner at the Blue Bayou. Remember his love for Disneyland; all of its characters he held in his heart. Remember his mastering the voice of Donald, a crabby duck he loved from the start. Remember him finding his Cinderella, whose love he had waited for all of his life. Remember their fairytale wedding, where his dreams really did come true. Remember him then blessed with a princess, fair of face and with hair of gold. Remember him loving her feisty ways, a true little Tinkerbell to call his own. Remember his love for a talkative bird, and a dog so sweet, but not too bright. Remember him always holding on to hope, never giving up his fight. Remember him handsome, remember him well. Remember his love for everyone here. Remember him now with a prayer and a smile, Remember he no longer has any pain. Remember him now as one who has gone to a magical place. After a long battle with leukemia, Doug passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2008. Doug is survived by his parents (Karen and Doug Benson, Sr.), his sister (Jennifer), his wife and best friend (Tricia), his son (Julius), his daughter (Samantha), and his many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to a funeral mass on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1650 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek.
