Robert Thomas Anderson passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008, following a short illness. His devoted children were by his side. Born on February 26, 1917 in Fresno, California, Bob was a long-time resident of Silver Springs in Lafayette, California. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Jean Otto Anderson, and a son, Stephen Otto Anderson. A long-time member of the California Bar Association, Bob was city attorney of Berkeley retiring in 1972. In addition, he built a successful practice in municipal law that included a precedent setting case on California land use in which he appeared before the United States Supreme Court. Bob will best be remembered for his warm personality, his rose garden, love of golf and travel, and card-playing skills. Following graduation from Fresno State and UC Berkeley?s Boalt Hall Law School where he earned his J.D., Bob served in the United States Army during the closing months of the Second World War. Bob is survived by his best friend and companion for the past five years, Fern Manning, his brother Dick (Loretta), children Tom (Liz), Doug (Doris), and Sharon (Jim); grandchildren Bob, Tami, Colin, Keala, Krista, Paul, Dena, Allison, and Stephanie; and nine great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Hospice of East Bay, 3470 Buskirk Avenue, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523. At his specific request, no funeral services will be held. Please join us for a Celebration of Life from 2:00-5:00 pm on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Crow Canyon Country Club, 711 Silver Lake Drive, Danville, CA.
