Obituary of Rose Venezia

Rose Vigli Venezia, 91, youngest of 5 children, passed away quietly Wednesday, February 28, 2007 in Walnut Creek. She was born in the North Beach district of San Francisco on July 3, 1915 to Genovese immigrants. She attended Girl's High School in the city and soon after graduation, worked as an elevator operator for Livingston's Department Store. She met her husband of 40 years Aurelio "Leo" Venezia (Leo passed away in 1975). Rose was a committed homemaker for over 40 years raising two children, Julie Ann Trapani and Thomas Venezia. Rose moved from her native San Francisco to Walnut Creek in 1985 to be closer to her family. She maintained her ties to the city by returning every Wednesday by BART to shop downtown and visit old friends. "Nonnie" became known as a person who they could always count on for a good laugh, a full cookie jar, and the security of knowing she would never change from the always available, always open, always smiling, and always quick with a trade mark quip, little Italian grandma. She is survived by her daughter Julie Ann & Chris Trapani of Walnut Creek, son Thomas Venezia and his fiancé Mary Gonzalez of Garden Grove, grandchildren Brian Trapani & Lisa Trapani of Martinez, Marc Trapani of Martinez, Gina Venezia and her husband Bo Jensen of Denmark and great-grandchildren Kayla Trapani, Michael Jack Trapani, Karli Rose Trapani, Anthony Trapani and Dominic Trapani. Graveside services are Monday, March 5, 2007 at 1:00PM at the East Mausoleum of the Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
