DELORIS JEAN MILLERNovember 1, 1940 ? December 25, 2005Deloris Jean Purdy was born November 1, 1940 in San Bernardino, California. She graduated from John Swett High School in Rodeo, California in 1959, where she enjoyed being a choir director and singing second soprano. Soon after, she married Rudy Miller. They had three children; Anita, Daniel, and John, whom they raised in Antioch, California. Deloris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Most people knew her as the wonderful, blonde waitress at Wong's restaurant, where she served 24 ½ years. She was not only a "cheerful giver" at her job, but in all aspects of her life. She genuinely cared for everyone and a stranger was just another loved one she hadn't met yet. Deloris always had a strong faith in God and encouraged others to do the same. As a confirmation of her beliefs, she was baptized Jehovah's Witness on Feb. 13, 1988. She is survived by her husband, three children, four grandchildren, one great grandchild, six brothers, and two sisters. In addition, Deloris had a very large extended family of loving friends who will miss her. There will be a memorial service held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005 at the Kingdom Hall located at 1111 Sunset Drive in Antioch, California. Immediately following the service there will be a reception for close friends and family in the Somerset Rec. Room at 3185 Contra Loma Blvd. in Antioch, California.
